What is Jailbreaking?

Today's large language models (LLMs) include safety guardrails to prevent harmful or objectionable outputs. Jailbreaking involves crafting inputs or applying techniques that trick these models into bypassing their restrictions, enabling them to generate unsafe outputs. Examples include prompts like role-playing unrestricted characters or using alternative formats. Jailbreaking poses a significant threat to the safety and security of current models, highlighting the risks associated with intentional misuse.

Rules of Engagement

• Each participant may only register once. Multiple registrations are strictly prohibited to ensure a fair competition environment.
• Abide by the rules specific to each challenge. Any violation will result in disqualification from that challenge.
• Participants cannot discuss or share jailbreaks before all prizes are awarded for that challenge, unless specified otherwise for a specific challenge.
• Participants are prohibited from using automated tools, scripts, or bots to generate or submit jailbreaks. To ensure fairness and authenticity, all submissions must be crafted manually by the participant and submitted through our platform to count.

Terms and Conditions

The arena is sponsored by Gray Swan AI. Participants must be 18 years of age or older. Participation from Russia, North Korea, Iran, Syria, and Cuba is prohibited. Sponsor may confirm the legality of sending prize money to winners who are residents of countries outside of the United States. All decisions of judges are final. The legality of accepting the prize in his or her country is the responsibility of the winners. All taxes are the responsibility of the winners. Employees or current contractors of Gray Swan AI and individuals involved in the internal testing are not eligible to win prizes. By entering the contest, entrants agree to the Terms & Conditions. Entrants agree that Gray Swan AI shall not be liable to entrants for any type of damages that arise out of or are related to the contest and/or the prizes. By submitting an entry, entrants grant Gray Swan AI and its partners an irrevocable, worldwide license to use and share the submission for any purpose. By submitting an entry, entrant represents and warrants that, consistent with the terms of the Terms and Conditions: (a) entrant owns any copyright applicable to the entry; (b) the entry does not violate, in whole or in part, any existing copyright, trademark, patent or any other intellectual property right of any other person, organization or entity; (c) entrant has confirmed and is unaware of any contractual obligations entrant has which may be inconsistent with these Terms and Conditions and the rights entrant is required to have in the entry, including but not limited to any prohibitions, obligations or limitations arising from any current or former employment arrangement entrant may have; (d) entrant is not disclosing the confidential, trade secret or proprietary information of any other person or entity, including any obligation entrant may have in connection arising from any current or former employment, without authorization or a license; and (e) entrant has full power and all legal rights to submit an entry in full compliance with these Terms and Conditions.
